sunshine in the morning!
I had to scrape ice off my windows before I could drive to work this morning, but oh, oh the sunshine!
With those hardy, cheery daffodils. Oh, what a lovely way to start the day!
I'm knitting with a cone of dark plum colored yarn with a metalic thread, (from Yarnia,) combined with a plum, orchid and cranberry mohair. A mindless triangular garter-stitch shawl which is sooo warm. It's going to Medical Teams International to warm the shoulders of some poor refugee. It's movie knitting. I need a real project to get to work on. Decisions, decisions. I need to turn out the stash and inspire myself. I start with the yarn I have and then figure out what it wants to be. How do you decide what to knit?

A combination of what I'm supposed to be making for somebody and what color I feel like RIGHT THIS VERY MINUTE. More flower porn, Roxie--keep it coming, it's bloomalicious!!!

i usually start with a pattern and then find the yarn actually. that's my strategy to avoid building stash. it mostly works :) lately i've been trying to use up the few bits of stash and leftovers and it's way trickier to match a pattern to yarn i've already got.
and i found your blog through somebody's blogroll i think (i confess i've been lurking for a while so i've forgetten the actual source). thanks for the compliment on my blog!

Thanks for the rain you sent us. Although we need the precipitation, I would have liked it NOT on a school day. Oh well, it's still rain--and fog.
MamaMia is with me and we are going to turn out my wool stash and stare at it for a while this afternoon...same reason as you.

It depends: usually I'm seized with inspiration, but if I'm on deadline inspiration doesn't always seize to order, so then I have to go looking for it. Anything from a flower to a tile floor can push the button.

I think it depends on what I am feeling at the time. I didn't think I'd enjoy large projects but then discovered I do. But I love socks. I always have a pair in mid knit. My family is becoming quite spoiled. I should put some away and give them as gifts. I'm not good with the waiting part. I like to give gifts NOW!

As I think back on my projects (mostly socks), it's usually the yarn that inspires the pattern. Although sometimes, I have a pattern and then need to find a yarn.
LOVE your flower p0rn. I've seen daffies, but not much else is out yet.
