the hat may have turned out a little large

Here is the happy pink hat pre-felting.

It will surely keep you warm, and it's JUST the thing for a bad hair day! I wonder how much this will felt up? It's in the washer now.
Well there's always pleats, wire, and drawstrings to consider. Em, if you hate it, I can always knit a nice little stocking hat in a day.

  1. HA! That last picture looks like a sunbonnet on you. Gee... I hope that's not superwash wool. Heh!

  4. Hey, it looks great! Remember The Helmet Hat? That was WAY too large when I made it. I felted it over and over again, and it shrunk up nicely. Maybe shrink and felt this, and put on some fun floral embellishments? it's you no matter what!

  5. LOL It made me think of that little Bill Cosby character whose hat and clothes were always so big.
I do hope it becomes smaller after felting!!!

  8. It is a little, um, large. But i understand that felting will shrink it quite a bit. Not that I've evern unintentionally shrunk a woolen sweater or anything.

I love the color. Em wears this awful hat that I made years ago when I first taught myself to knit. And she tells everyone that "my mom made this for me".

  9. Hokey Smokes. I've felted a lot of things, but it's always been a mistake. I didn't know anyone ever did it on purpose.

  10. The next time you grab all the leftover yarn at a spinner's giveaway, remember that fiber content is uncertain!!!! Can you say SUPERWASH? Back in the day when I was trying to make wooly items for grandkids, I actually spun some. SCARY!
