There's a little chunk of protected wetland down between the Sherrie's restaurant and the expressway that is just swarming with critters. Ducks, geese, nutria and song birds come begging in the parking lot.
The parents are very protective, but used to the presence of people. when I got too close, and didn't toss food, they bustled the babies off to the safety of the bushes.
And on the other side of the bushes, they feel even safer so I could get slower. Look at those downy babies! It is certainly spring now.
ahhh, they are so cute!! At our church last Sunday there was a mama seated upon her nest so we will soon see some babies emerging!
ReplyDeleteAdorable! Wouldn't you love to scoop one up for a snuggle!?!
ReplyDeleteCute little guys.
ReplyDeleteWe have quite a wild goose population around here. Many of them have stopped flying south and just hang out all winter. I'm betting they were sorry this winter.
ReplyDeleteThere's one place where they're talking birth control for the birds because there are so many of them that they are ruining a perfectly lovely lake (all that poo)
Our geese haven't even started laying eggs yet.
